At Eighty-Six
End Comes To Mrs. Reese At Home Of Grand-Son
Returned to Former Home Last Fall After Spending Number of Years in Texas
Mrs. Zerilda Reese, a highly respectable old lady, died Monday night at the home of her grand son, Mr. Robert Cayce, four miles west of Cadiz. Some heart affection and the weight of years caused her demise. Mrs. Reese was born in 1832, and if she had lived until the 22nd of next May would have been eighty-six years of age. For many years she resided with her children at the old Reese home five miles south of Cadiz, her husband having died more than forty years ago. After her children all grew up and left the family hearthstone she broke up housekeeping and fourteen years ago went to Texas, where she remained until last fall with relatives. She was the mother of several children, but an only daughter, Mrs. W. F. Dew, of near Canton, survives her. Ms. W. H. Newton, of the southern part of the county and Mrs. Wade, of the eastern part of the county, are her grand-daughters. Mrs. Reese was a very intelligent lady, with splendid education, and was a very interesting person in conversation. She was good and kind loving neighbor, and enjoyed the love of hosts of people with who she had associated and near whom she had lived for many years. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and had been for many years. The burial took place Tuesday afternoon at three o’clock at the Lawrence graveyard for miles west of Cadiz, many friends and loved ones being present to pay a tribute of respect to a good woman.
