Funeral services for Willis N. Burnam, 70, of Cadiz, were held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Revs. Wayne Glass and Anthony Jolly officiated. Burial with full military honors followed in the East End Cemetery in Cadiz. King’s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Willis Burnam died following a short illness at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton.

He was born on Sept. 15, 1943, in Trigg County to Sammie Carl Burnam and Eunice Lee Mitchell Burnam.

Willis owned Blue Springs Market for 30 years and was a building contractor for 25 years. He served as project manager with military contracting until his retirement in 2010. Willis was a United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam.

He was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the National Republican Congressional Committee and Business Advisory Council, a member of Liberty Baptist Church where he served on the building committee and he was a former member of the Cadiz Water Commission.

Willis was preceded in death by his parents, Sammie Carl and Eunice Lee Burnam; brother Carl Burnam; twin sister Phyllis Burnam in infancy; and sister Eunice Earl Burnam in infancy.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Adams Burnam of Cadiz; brothers Ray Burnam of Cadiz and Sammie Burnam (and wife Ann) of Cadiz; sisters Shirley Cook of Princeton and Jean Calhoun of Cadiz; daughters Kelly Mitchell (and husband Jerry) of Cadiz, Kim Humphries (and husband Stan) of Cadiz and Kristen Roberts (and husband Danny) of Hopkinsville; nine grandchildren, Amanda Broadbent of Huntington Beach, Calif., Lauren Broadbent Taylor of Cadiz, Thomas Broadbent of Cadiz, Stephen, Lydia and Luke Humphries of Cadiz, Alex Keys, Emily and Ava Roberts of Hopkinsville; and one great grandson, Hudson Taylor of Cadiz.

Serving as pallbearers were JF Ricks, T.O. Edmonds, Johnie Adams, Jerry David Futrell, Ray Burnam, Ramey Cunningham. Honorary pallbearers were Stephen Humphries, Luke Humphries, Alex Keys, Thomas Broadbent and Hudson Taylor. Music was provided by Christy Gorman, pianist and Joy Stallons, pianist.
