Abt 1926 Bill LAWSON and Rebecca CHAMBERS were charged with adultery.
She [Rebecca] states her husband died in a mine accident, and she has 4 small ch to feed.
She works at the LAWSON home for someplace to live, and to feed her children. She can't get married because she wouldn't be able to obtain compensation she applied for.
It doesn't say if Mrs LAWSON was still in the home.
5 neighbors saw them 2x in the grocery store buying groceries....they got suspicious [HUH!]
[Not guilty verdict]
Too me, adultery would only occur if there was a spouse of either party involved
She continued to have ch after Wm LAWSON died.
Why is her name CHAMBERS on everything? Is it her maiden name, as well as her married name?
Wm E LAWSON was m to Mary c 1902, but no ch other than a foster dau Virginia TISSA--------b c 1912 NY; fathr; Italy....1920 census. Didn't find marriage to Mary
