Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Mattingly of the Oak Grove section celebrated their
golden wedding anniversary with open house at their home from 2 until
4 Sunday afternoon.
The register was signed by 100 people. In addition to close neighbors
and friends, guests were from Evansville, Ind.; Harrisburg, Herrin,
Eldorado and Carmi, Ill.; Henderson, Marion, Madisonville, Sturgis and
Mrs. Mattingly, the former Miss Flossie Thurmond, is 66 and Mr. Mattingly
is 74. They were married July 22, 1908 in Elizabethtown, Ill. Their
attendants were Mrs. Eddie Dye, the former Miss Ella Pritchett, now
deceased, and Ed Mattingly, both from Clay.
They have three sons, Harold, near Clay, B.T. of Evansville, and W.T.
Mattingly of Clay; a daughter, Mrs. Glen B. Wood of the Oak Grove
section; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The Mattingly reunion is usually held at this time, so the two occasions
were combined with the reunion dinner at noon at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Mattingly, followed by the anniversary observance in the afternoon.
