Retiring Postmaster Given Farewell Dinner - 1959

Mrs. Mattie Blackwell, who retired as Dixon Postmaster June 1 after serving for twenty-three years and nearly three months, was honored by Post Office employees with a farewell dinner at the Country Kitchen on Wednesday night, May 27.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Carneal of Nebo, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Bumpus, Mr. and Mrs. John Crow, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Aldridge, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Ramsey, Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Wilkerson, Mr. and Mrs. Forest T. Watson, and Mrs. C.C. Moore. Other invited guests were Mrs. H.L. Duncan of Winchester, Mrs. M.L. Blackwell, and Mr. and Mrs. O.R. Wright.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fuquay and Mr. and Mrs. Carmen Asher were unable to attend.
Mrs. Blackwell was presented a vibrating chair by the Post Office group as a farewell gift.
Mrs. E.H. Wilkerson has been appointed acting postmaster and assumed her new duties Monday.
