I realize the original message here was posted many years ago, but just in case you're still out there, I'm looking for the McKendrick family in Kentucky too. I have a hunch that my 4x Great Grandfather, William McKendrick, was related to this JS McKendrick mentioned in this obituary, as William lived in Franklin County, KY as well (around 1820). JS was probably a nephew of William's. Either way, would love to know if you have anymore info on JS-- especially names of his parents and where they were from. I think I can link William to them.
