Marshall Anderson Smith, 97, of Versailles, widower of Julia Pearl Beckley Smith, died Tuesday, September 17, 2002, at his residence. Born in Shelby County November 27, 1904, he was the son of the late James and Adeline Matilda Anderson Smith. He was co-owner of Ward and Smith Gulf Station for many years and was a retired employee of the Property Valuation Administrator's office. He was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Vivian Ann Blackburn of Lexington; two grandchildren, Patrick Thomas Blackburn, Lexington, and Ann Marshall Ritchey, Gardnes, Mass.; and four great grandchildren. A great grandson, Benjamin Patrick Ritchey, is deceased. Services were conducted September 20, 2002 at Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Versailles Cemetery.
