Does anyone have information on I.E. Gonichon (draftsman, surveyor, mapmaker) who arrived in Louisiana about 1726? He worked with Ignace Francois Broutin and made some of the early maps of the area.

I'm also looking for information on Jean Ganichon. I found a record of a "Mrs. Jean Ganichon (alias Decoudreau nee Josephine)" who was buried in St. Louis Cemetery #1 in 1838 but so far, that's the only information I've found.

(There is a John T. Ganichon named in a law suit brought against Manuel de Lisa in 1797. Am not sure if he's related.)

Any information on these early Gonichon/ Ganichon settlers would be appreciated. Thanks, Lisa
