During the early years of European exploration (1500’s), 2 new tribes arrived: the Biloxi and the Choctaw.
The Biloxi blended with the Tunica in Northern Louisiana. The Choctaw settled in the Pearl River region (what is now W. Mississippi and Eastern Louisiana (The Florida Parishes). They had a tendency to live near European settlements in small groups, and got along with the Europeans (French) very well initially. The Choctaw had a major influence upon Louisiana (names of places, rivers, etc.). By the 1800’s, many natives had assimilated into the society. *I hope this helps* When I have more time, I will post any other information I might have.
