EDWARD BARTO LOCKEY, Sr., 89, of Benton, died at 10:45 a.m. Monday (March 6, 1950), after a long illness. Born in Alabama in 1861, Mr. Lockey moved to Bossier Parish as a child and had been a resident here since. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Benton Baptist church. Burial was in the family plot in Rocky Mount Cemetery.
Survivors are 13 children, E.B. Lockey, Jr.; Mrs. Lee Davis, Mrs, Herbert Haier, Joseph V. Young, and Mrs. Mary Wilkins, all of Bossier city; Mrs. Ray Logan and J. E. Lockey of Cotton Valley; Mrs. C. Y. Stewart, of Houston, Texas; Mrs. Toole Byers and Archie Locke, of Boulder, Montana; Mike Young and J. J. Young, of Cuero, Texas, and Mrs. Herert Childress, of Livingston,Texas; a sister Mrs. Tom Wilson, of Jena; and 33 grandchildten and 41 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were his grandsons.
