BETHANY, LA --- Graveside services for J.B. "Pappy" Shoumaker, Sr., 67, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, January 9, 1998 at Forest Park West. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Scott, pastor of Woodland Hills Baptist Church and Rev. J.B. Shoumaker, Jr., pastor of Bellview Assembly of God in Pensacola, Fla.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Southside Dr.
Mr. Shoumaker died Tuesday, January 6, 1998 in Bethany, La. A resident of Bethany, La., Mr. Shoumaker was a native of Bossier City and a lifelong resident of Caddo Parish. He was retired from the Traffic Engineering Department for the City of Shreveport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Berry and Virgie Shoumaker; brothers, Clifton Shoumaker and B.W. Shoumaker; sisters, Norma Lee Hope and Georgia Gannon.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Barbara Shoumaker of Bethany; two sons, Rev. J.B. Shoumaker, Jr. and wife Becky of Pensacola, Fla. and Douglas Shoumaker of Bethany; two daughters, Cheryl Hartley and husband Charles of Bethany, Jackie Cooper and husband Steve of Blanchard; one sister, Vivian Benson of Benton; one brother, Roland Shoumaker of Plain Dealing; grandchildren, Traci Teer and husband Scott, Shannon Poole, Candice Jamison and husband Joe, Dustin Cooper, Laura Cooper, Shane Shoumaker, Beth Shoumaker and Brandon Poole; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Cheyenne and Bryson. Mr. Shoumaker will be dearly missed by his extended family and friends too numerous to mention.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. David Dies, Dr. Larry Flake, Dr. Michael Moore and the third-floor nursing staff at Willis-Knighton South.
