I realize the post I am replying to is quite old. My husband is the nephew of the author of the 'Squyres with a Y' book to which some of the replies refer. This book is out of print. There are several pages on which Allen Tolbert Squyres appears in Book 2." An excert from one of them is "The second son to enlist was evidently Allen Tolbert Squyres. He enlisted at 19, enlisting November 1861. . . ." Whether wounded in battle or else ill, records do not indicate. ATS served during the duration of the was and didi not surrender until May 26, 0865, the end of the way. At age 30, ATS died and family legent has it he was buried in an unmarked grave in Neches. TX. A family history freak of many years - my line and my husband's, if I can be of further help, please email me at follies@suddenlink.net
