I don't know if there is a connection or not for me but am pretty sure there is to his family. Myfamily all lived in North La. in Union Parish. My gggrandfather was William Hardy Howard married to Nance Jane Gulley He was born in Ala in 1828 and he is a brick wall for me. I have hundreds of Howards on mylist but can't find his parents.
