Surnames: YOUNG, SORRELS/SORRELLS, GUICE, JACKSON
I am trying to locate my gr gr gr grandfather Spencer YOUNG, b 1810 in SC, and a resident of Lexington, Holmes co, MS for many years. He migrated to Carroll parish in 1855 with a large wagon train of settlers and located in the Monticello area. With him were his wife and family, a married daughter, Narcissa Young & husband B. F. SORRELS, several McBride families, and others whose names I do not know. Most of the McBrides moved on to Jackson parish. In the 1860 census, this family are all still in Monticello living near each other, another daughter has married: Mary Ann Young to John J. JACKSON. In DEC 1862, Spencer's wife Anna ____?, b 1814 in NC, died, her daughter Narcissa SORRELS having died in OCT. In JAN 1863, Spencer remarries Mrs. Mary Guice in Carroll parish, but no further trace of him is found. He isn't in any of the online cemeteries and I do not find him in a later census index for Carroll parish. I'd like to know who raised his two motherless granddaughters while their dad was in service for the CSA. Any clues would be most appreciated, as he couldn't have just vanished, though I'm beginning to wonder ! I know they purchased land but have no access to land records as I'm in TX.
