I'm trying to figure out the death date for Guyan Jasper Leeper Brown Sr. He is buried in Springhill Cem. and stone says he died 1924. That would make have made him 101 yrs. old when he died which I don't believe 1924 is correct. Could the date have been mis-read and the date is 1904? Family records states he died 9 Sep 1902. Guyan starting receiving pension starting in May 1902. I can't locate Guyan J. L. Brown Sr. anywhere in the 1900 census. He also isn't found in the 1910 or 20 census. His second wife Rachel E. is living with her daughter Emma Lee Chandler in Grant Parish which makes it look like she and "Guy" were separated. I think the 1900 census lists her as a widow?

Can anyone tell me how to find out for sure when Guyan died? Would it be possible for someone to read his stone to see if 1924 is incorrect? Would there be any records available to show when he died? Did he have a will or probate records? Anything?

Any help or info. would be greatly appreciated!
