Hi,

No, I am not related to any of these families. I just thought I would help you in your research.

In the LDS [Mormon] records I found the following:

John Henry Impson [bn ca 1833 MS]
m. 1/15/1857 [either EBR of Livingston Parish]
Rebecca Garrison

Lawrence Lot Garrison [bn 10/31/1803 W. VA]
m. 1/24/1828 Adams Co., MS
Margaret Erwin [bn ca 1812 Adams Co., MS]

1880 Census
Margaret Garrison was living with her son, Stephen. The census gives PA as the birthplace for Stephen's father [marriage record shows W. VA]

1880 Census Livingston Parish
Joe Impson 23
Rebecca Impson 43 [mother]
John Impson 14 [brother]

Civil War Record:
John H. Impson
Corporal in Confederate Army
9th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry

Death Record:
Joseph Alexander Impson
bn ca 1872 *
d. 1/16/1924 Galveston, Galveston Co., TX
parents: John H. and Rebecca Impson

*He was born ca 1857.

FROM CENSUS RECORDS:

1830 East Baton Rouge
Lock Garrison [1 son, 1 adult male & 1 adult female]

1860 Livingston Parish
John Impson 27 farmer bn MS
Rebecca 23 bn LA
Joseph 2 bn LA

1870 Livingston Parish Springfield P.O.
John Impson 37 bn LA ?
Rebecca 32 bn LA
Joseph 11 bn LA
Mary 8 bn LA
John 4 bn LA

1900 East Baton Rouge Parish
Rebecca L. Impson LA MS SC was living with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary J. and John S. Powers and their 9 kids.

1900 Livingston Parish
John Impson [son] and family

1910 Iberville Parish **
John Impson [son] and family

1920 Livingston Parish
John Impson [son] and family

***Since Rebecca Impson died in 1909 in White Castle [Iberville Parish], she may have been living with John and his family.

I did not find John H. Impson on the 1850 census for LA or MS. However, on the 1850 East Baton Rouge Census I found the following:
James Shackleford 32 farmer MS
Tempy Simpson 53 GA
John Simpson 18 MS

It is very possible that the name Simpson was recorded rather than Impson. This John's age "fits" and his birthplace of MS also "fits". In 1850 Rebecca's family was #896 and this Simpson family was #874. Therefore, the two families lived in the same general area. I have a feeling that this is indeed your John.

From which of the three children [Joe, Mary or John] do you descend?

Do you need info on Rebecca's siblings?

Cheryl
