According to BLM land grant records Duncan McPherson bought 160 acres of Madison Parish land 9/1/1849. BLM records have a John McPherson purchasing about 240 acres in Jefferson County MS in 1840. Curiously there is a John E. McPherson, overseer, born MS, age 30 in 1860 Carroll Parish census. He's living among Currie and Hardison cousins of mine. Notation on census record has Omega and Pecan Grove Post Office. Omega is in Madison Parish.
