MANSFIELD: Rosie Lee Gibbs, 84, of 468 N. Mulberry St. Mansfield, Ohio died Friday, March 9, 2012 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.
Mrs. Gibbs was born on Friday, November 4, 1927 to the late Joe and Laura Sampson Walker in Tallulah, Louisiana.
She had lived in Mansfield the past 46 years.
Rosie was a retired employee of the Independent Towel Company. She was a member of the Providence Baptist Church where she served on the Mothers Board and Senior Usher Board.
Rosie is survived by 5 daughters: Bertha (Rev. Curtis) Woodruff, White Plains, Georgia, Alice (Elder Henry) Bradley, Mansfield, Ohio, Penelope "Penny" (Laudell) Ford, East St. Louis, Illinois, Betty Gibbs, Covina, California, and Rosie "Bad Girl" Gibbs, Sacramento, California,; 4 sons: W.T. "Bud" (Dorothy), Greenville, Mississippi, Jimmy (Yvette), Jacksonville, Florida, Robert, Mansfield, and Willie Gibbs, Sacramento; 32 grandchildren, 77 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Luebertha Bernard, Chicago, and Margree Murphy of Jackson, Mississippi.
In addition to her parents Rosie was also preceded in death by her husband Henry, Sr., 2 sons Johnny and Henry, 2 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and 3 brothers.
Friends may call Saturday at the Providence Baptist Church one hour prior to the 12 noon funeral service Dr. Thomas Hunt will officiate the service. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Providence Baptist Church or Community Temple COGIC.
The family will also receive friends at the home from 4-8 p.m. daily till the day of service.
