I came across this article concerning the murders of Sam and Simon Williams, brothers, in the Pine Hills area of Ouachita Parish (northwestern Ouachita) in September 1861:
From the New Orleans newspaper, "The Daily True Delta", issue of 15 September 1861:
"The Ouachita Register has the annexed account of a fatal affray in that parish:
In the Pine Hills, in this parish, two brothers, Sam and Simon Williams, were shot by H. D. W. Cherry and Gen. M. Malone, and instantly killed. The two Williams went with a warrant to arrest Malone for whipping his wife, and when they arrived within a few yards of him they were instantly killed. The murderers are at large, and five hundred dollars are offered for their apprehension and delivery."
