checking the 1920 Census, a Bernard St. ANN,m, born about 1904, was living in Nairn, Ward 10, Plaquemines Parish. His father was Theophile(b.1878),m, and probably had a nickname, and mother was Jeannette(b.1882),m. They lived near or on the farm where the Meyer lemon was developed, as the Kirby family and the only Japanese family were among the neighbors. At this time, some St. Ann families were (b) not (m). This usually meant the mother or wife was (or descended from) a former slave(b), not the actual racial status. Sometimes the census taker went by darkness of skin, as a few families are m and b mixed with children of different age and the same parents, but not often. I haven't done all the trace to the first Carlos yet, give me a few more months. Richard
