Bennie Shoemaker, avid hunter
Bennie Shoemaker, 80, of 4820 Brookwood Place and formerly of 825 Arbor Vista, a retired employee of Drake Saw Co., died of a heart attack Thursday in Hinds General Hospital.
Services are 3 p.m. today at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Shoemaker, a native of Lincoln County, had lived in Jackson for 55 years, moving from Rayville, La. He attended Oak Forest Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, hunting at 10 Point Deer Club.
Survivors include: son, Herman L. Shoemaker of Brandon; daughter, Dixie Hemphill of Jackson; stepchildren, Ruth Boteler of Jackson and Thomas Sylvester of Daly City, Calif.; brother, Johnnie Shoemaker of Rayville, La.; sisters, Mary E. Grant and Hattie Lee, both of Jackson; and seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
