Services for Mr. Joseph B. (Bilbo) Shoemaker, 75, of Rayville, were at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 1987, at the Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel in Rayville with Dr. Adrien Pater officiating. Burial was in the Lynn Cemetery in Archibald.
Mr. Shoemaker died Thursday, December 17, 1987, at the Richland Parish Hospital in Rayville following a lengthy illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Richland Parish, a retired manager of Archibald Cotton Gin and a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtis Smith Shoemaker of Rayville; four sons, Wendell Shoemaker of Rayville, Russell Shoemaker of Brussels, Belgium, Horace Earl Shoemaker of Alexandria, and Jimmy Shoemaker of Shreveport; one daughter, Mickey A. Shoemaker of Rayville; two brothers, Johnny Shoemaker of Rayville, and Bennie Lee Shoemaker of Jackson, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Grant and Mrs. Hattie Lee, both of Jackson, Miss.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Glenn Bryan, Arnold Medlin, Emmett Greer, Stanley Williams, Ronnie Smith, and Calvin (last name not recorded).
