I am searching for information about the Kinler Family. Julian Kinler was born around 1835. His wife, Clarisse, was born in June of 1840 in Luling. They had five children-son, Armand born around 1862; twin daughters Amelie and Amelia born in 1868; daughter Mary born in 1870 and son, Elien born in 1872. They lived in Luling, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish. Clarisse went to MIssissippi to take care of her grandchildren after the death of her daughter, Amelia, in 1899. The 1900 census in MS reports that she is widowed, so I assume Julian died between 1880 and 1900. I can find no one (other than Clarisse) after the 1880 census, and Clarisse disappears after the 1900 census. The family is believed to be Mulatto, but there are rumors in the family that Clarisse or her mother was from France. They were Catholic, but I have written the churches in the area and there are no records there. How can I try to obtain birth certificates? How can I try to find out when these people died? Was there a particular cemetery where Mulattoes or Blacks were buried in Luling?
