I would bet it is. I went on GenealogyBank and searched for "Sam's Landing" in Louisiana, and I found a 1915 obituary. In it, the deceased is said to have died when he fell into the river from the deck of a boat at Uncle Sam's Landing. It goes on to say that Uncle Sam's Landing is 63 miles above the city of New Orleans and 2 miles from Convent landing.
