Classification: Query
Surnames: Priestley
The Priestleys reported twenty to thirty slaves in the Federal Censuses.
On October 22, 1825, the ship 'Rollon' docked at New Orleans, from Norfolk VA. The manifest includes eight slaves on board for William Priestley: a mother and mixed-race baby (perhaps that is why she was sold, to deny the child the name of his father) and a family of six children. The slaves have no surnames, all except two are Black:
Leah aged 26, and Henry aged 5 months ('Tawney')
Sarah aged 15
James aged 14
Emilline aged 13
Charlotte aged 12 ('Tawney')
William aged 7
Horace 4
