Anne, The Carlins in St. Mary and St. Martin and today's Iberia Parish all decended from Joseph Carlin, a French soldier first found in New Orleans in 1758. After the transfer of LA to Spain he left the French Army and settled on a Spainish Land Grant in what is today Iberia Parish. Several of his sons and his daughter moved to St. Mary Parish about 1802 to settle on Bauou Teche in the vicinity of Franklin, which until 1826 was called Carlin's Settlement. One of his decendents was named Loufroy or Lufroid but could not have married a woman born in 1826 in France, his wife came from Natchez. I cannot connect with your Carlins. Good Luck! Paul Davidson
