The St. Martin church at St. Martinville, LA is not in Lafayette; but it was the mother church for the Atakapas District. Records for these people will be from the later-created Lafayette church because they lived at Vermilion; and the Lafayette church handled their needs until the church in Abbeville, Vermilion Parish was created.

This entry from Father Hebert's SW LA Records should answer your question: FALK, Nancy - of this parish; native of South Carolina; widow from her second marriage to dec. Thomas WEST (major daughter of Luc - inhabitant at Vermillion & Celeste STRICKLY) m. 23 Nov. 1813 William PERRY - of this parish; native of Manchac parish (major son of John & Pennelphy [probably Penelope] PERRY) Wits: James HARGRAVE, Joseph FOLK, Louis CHEMIN, MENEUS. Fr. Gabriel ISABEY (SM Ch.: v.5, #316)
