Checked my CW map and know about where Dancy is/was. Maps show the road, not the bayou, meeting the Teche, but not possible to know unless you're familiar with the area.
From the four maps I have, each a little different and not to true scale, Dancy would be between today's Verdunville and Shadyside Plantation. There are no homes surviving in that area, so no idea where the house or "garden" burial site might be.
There is a long wooded area along the bayou where I was told there was a sugar mill and home sites. Owner has been selling lots and a few homes have been built, so will ask around to see if anyone has found possible house foundations.
Also along the bayou is a small cemetery which has been there for many years. There was a small church as well, but it was lost in one of the hurricanes. When fields are dry I can check headstones, but believe they are all post 1900.
Next time I'm at the court house I will check the records to see exactly where Dancy's land was located. Maybe there will be a map that shows location of buildings.
