jchewey, the New Orleans Times-Picayune of 2/7/1901 had the following obit:

Clark Hewett
[Special to the Picayune]

Hammond, La., Feb 6 - Mr. Clark Hewett, proprietor of the Hammond nursery, died this morning from Pneumonia. Mr. Hewett was formerly of Wisconsin, but had been a resident of Hammond for nearly ten years. He leaves a wife, three sons and a daughter, the children all being grown to manhood and womanhood. Mr. Hewett was highly respected in this community, and he had done much to develop the horticultural interests of this section of the state.
The funeral will take place tomorrow from the home, and the remains will be laid to rest in Green Lawn Cemetery.
