Thanks so much everyone for the help.
I have been told off board that the Washington Parish courthouse burned twice and a big part of the marriage records are lost.
I have since discovered from LA Confederate Pension records that Charles G. Rainey's widow was Louvicie Walker Rainey.
You will note on the 1870 and 1880 censuses that his wife was Selena (L) Rainey.
In 1900 his wife was Vica Raney. In 1920 she is listed as Luvicie Rainey.
((I CANNOT FIND A DEATH CERTIFICATE FOR HER))
The death certificates of the children indicate their mother as various forms of Louvicia Walker.
WOULD YOU SAY THAT SALENA and LOUVICIA ARE THE SAME PERSON? THAT CHARLES HAD ONE OR TWO WIVES?
The children listing Louvicia Walker as their mother points toward one wife, and yet I have seen a long-time step-mother listed as the mother on death certificates.
