Last Rites Held for Mrs. Lola Newman
Funeral services for Mrs. Lola S. Newman, age 76 years, were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Mt. Zion United Pentacostal Church, southeast of Franklinton, with interment following in the Enon Cemetery.
Officiating at the religious services were Rev. Dexter Rushing, Rev. A.D. Willingham, and Rev. J.B. Rocko.
Mrs. Newman died at the home of one of her sons at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday following a long illness. She was a retired housewife. The body lay in state at the Poole Funeral Home here in Franklinton until time for the procession to move to the church.
Survivors include three sons: Walter Newman and DeWitt Newman, both of Franklinton, and Alcus Newman of Poplarville, Miss.; one daughter, Mrs. Alma Hunt of Bogalusa; one brother, John Shoemaker of Bainbridge, Georgia; seven sisters, Mrs. Palice Wallace, New Orleans; Mrs. Emmy Arnold, Smithdale, Miss.; Miss Nannie Belle Newman, Gilbert, La.; Mrs. Audrey Fortenberry, Chesbrough, La.; Mrs. E.W. Dixon of Enon; Mrs. Mildred Knight and Mrs. Ira McCain, both of Franklinton.
Poole Funeral Directors of Franklinton were in charge of arrangements.
