Page 605, Booth's Record. Captured and paroled at Vicksburg, MS on 7-4-1863. Also appears in the National Archives Compiled Service Record. The 1860 Winn Parish Census, Wheeling District No. 587, lists Jno. R. Denton, age 26, born AL, married to Elizabeth.

Rest assured, there are many, many unmarked graves in Mt. Zion. Not saying any of this family are there and according to my records, posted above, J. R. was with the 27th LA Inf. Co.
