Forest, a resident of Upper Street in Turner, passed away at Montello Manor in Lewiston, where he had been a patient for the past month.
He was born in Turner, the son of Harry J. and Clara (Conant) Gilbert. He married Deborah Stevens on June 21, 1941, in Bethel. They made their home and raised their family in Turner.
Mrs. Deborah Stevens Gilbert passed away on July 6, 2005. Forest was a farmer and a politician. He served 12 years on the MSAD 52 School Board, town selectman and also served two terms in the State Legislature in 1965 and 1969. Forest felt honored to represent the people of Turner. He was a member of the Universalist Church of Turner, the Turner Grange, the Farmers Co-op Extension Service and the Androscoggin Soil and Water Association.
He is survived by his son, Reynard Gilbert and his wife, Pamala, of Turner; four daughters, Marcia Gilbert of Modesto, Calif., Clara B. Gilbert of Turner, Venida Michaud and her husband, Reynold, of New Gloucester and Vera Williams of Skowhegan; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Bouchard of Auburn; and 2 sisters-in-law, Margret Bailey and Margaret Stevens, both of Turner.
Gilbert - Forest S., 95, a resident of Turner, died on Saturday, Dec. 01, in Lewiston. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Universalist Church in Turner Center. Deborah Stevens Gilbert

Deborah of Upper Street in Turner, passed away surrounded by her family, after a long and productive life.
She was born in Turner the daughter of Leslie E. and Blanche Rose Stevens. She graduated from Leavitt Institute in 1929 and Farmington Normal School, now known as the University of Maine at Farmington.
She taught in the Greene school system for two years. She later earned a home economics degree from the University of Maine.
Before her marriage she served as the 4-H Club agent in Aroostook County for four years.

She was a member of the Turner Universalist Church, the Turner Grange, Pomona Grange, State Grange and the Upper Street Mothers Club. She had also been active as a local 4-H leader.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years of Turner; five children, Marcia Gilbert of Modesto, Calif., Reynard Gilbert of Turner, Clara Gilbert of Lewiston, Venida Michaud of New Gloucester, and Vera Williams of Skowhegan; a sister, Margaret Stevens Bailey of Turner; two sisters-in-law, Margret Stevens of Turner, and Rose Bouchard of Auburn; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; "a couple of promises"; and several nieces and nephews.
GILBERT - Deborah Stevens, 95, of Turner, died in Turner, Wednesday, July 6. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Universalist Church in Turner.
