If anyone could, help me with an obituary lookup or an online newspaper that dates back to 2003, I would appreciate it. I am helping a friend rediscover her father, Edward T Bailey Jr (born 27 April 1922 in Vermont. Parents are Edward Sr and Doris).

I believe the man that I have been trailing died in either Fort Kent, ME or Madawaska, ME on 21 July 2003. Via Ancestry, the US Veterans Gravesites have the right birth date and he's buried in Wells River, VT where his family was from at the time of his birth. I have a US public records index that gives the right birthdate where he's living in Madawaska in 1990 and a obituary daily times index (Publication date 23 July 2003) pointing to him as well. Those also from Ancestry, but I would really like to confirm or deny that he's who I am looking for so I can give my friend the piece of mind that she has been looking for for a few decades.
