WALLINGFORD - William J. "Bill" Bushley, Sr., 94, beloved husband of over 50 years of the late Clara Quell Bushley, of Wallingford, formerly a longtime resident of Stamford, exited this life Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at the Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford.
Born in Rumford, Maine, Sept. 26, 1917, a son of the late Nelson and Margaret Gillis Bushley. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy. Bill and Clara shared an uncommon love and cherished their time together. Needless to say he was lonely since her passing in 2005. Bill kept active continuing to square dance with his friends of the Temple Sweethearts and the Cheshire Cats. He volunteered and enjoyed many great times at the wonderful Wallingford Senior Center.
He is survived by his three sons and their wives, Thomas and Joycelynn, of Richland, Mo., John and Donna of Stamford, and Brian and Kathy of Rantool, Ill.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by five sisters; and two brothers.
Bill was especially grateful for the extra 25 years of life he received due to modern medical technology. He received his first pacemaker in 1986, a triple bypass in 1992 and two more pacemakers. He was always impressed by the compassionate professionals who cared for him. This was especially true this year as the amazing staff of the Masonicare Home and Health and Hospice helped him to finish his journey.
He is free now. We know because we saw him dancing his way across the stars with Clara on his arm!
Funeral services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to Masonicare, P.O. Box 70., Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford.
