This Bible was published in 1832. I don't know who it originally belonged to. It came from my great grandmother Evelyn Stone (married Ashman Ladd) who somehow was a descendant of the Philbricks. I am posting this here to help others and am hoping that someone will be able to help me as well. I'd like to know how Evelyn was related to the Philbricks. I am suspecting that her mother, Edith Stone-Batchelder, was Edith Philbrick. This is only a guess. If anyone recognizes this name please let me know.
In any case, here is what was written in the Bible...
Oliver ?. Philbrick married unreadable (could be Harriet Franklin) Jan. 1825
Oliver S. Philbrick 3/13/1826
Benj. S. (or P.) Philbrick 3/20/1828
Unreadable (middle name could be James) Philbrick 3/4/1830
David (could be Davis) Thomas Philbrick 6/21/1832
Hannah Elizabeth Philbrick 6/21/1834 (not a typo -- odd it was the same day at David's)
George Washington Philbrick 9/14/1835 (could be 1836)
Oliver S. (or J.) Philbrick 8/2/1802
Mary Philbrick 1/25/1807
Davis (could be David) Philbrick 12/6/1781
Nancy Philbrick 1/18/1783
John (middle initial unreadable) Philbrick 9/12/1850
Unreadable (so is middle name) Philbrick 3/2/1852
William Grant 12/14/1832 (or 1833 it was corrected)
Benjamin Philbrick 5/14/1813 52 years
Elizabeth Philbrick 4/12/1838 76 years
David Philbrick 6/5/1859 77 years and 6 mos.
Nancy Philbrick 1/24/1854 71 years
Jane Tozier 11/18/1871 67 years 3 mos. and 13 days
Oliver S. Philbrick 7/25/1886
Marry Philbrick 6/19/1889 (not a typo the 9 in 19th could be incorrect)
George W. Philbrick 2/28/1900
Okay, I have made a few uneducated guesses judging by the dates. It looks to me that the 52 year old Benjamin and the 76 year old Elizabeth who died must be perhaps Davis/David's (b. 12/6/1781) parents and Nancy Philbrick is Davis/David's wife. It looks like Oliver b. 8/2/1802 and Mary b. 1/25/1807 were perhaps Davis/David and Nancy's children then the others on the second page are all siblings whose parents are either Oliver b. 8/2/1802 or Mary b. 1/25/1807. My bet is on Oliver b. 8/2/1802. It seems logical given the dates. What is surprising is the William Grant entry. It seems out of context.
In any case, I hope this helps someone. I also hope that someone can help me.
Thanks so much!
