Ms. Sadie Mae Douchane Worked for Hallock Orchards
WASHINGTON DEPOT — Sadie Mae Douchane, 91, of Upper Church Hill Road, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at Village Crest in New Milford.
Born in Sturbridge, Mass., on March 2, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Henry M. and Clara D. (Ziegler) Bickford. She had been a local resident for more than 55 years. Sadie had worked for Hallock Orchards for more than 30 years. She loved to garden and work outdoors, and her grandchildren were her greatest joy.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally Freer of Thomaston; a son, Richard of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons, Donald and Robert, sisters, Ruth Tompkins and Barbara Cavanaugh, and a brother, Henry.
Graveside services will be held at Washington Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Washington Volunteer Fire Department or Ambulance Association.
Rowe Funeral Home of Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.
