The Ship Sagadahoc left Göteborg, Sweden with 219 Swedes and arrived in Boston on 24 Oct 1853 minus 56 who died on the voyage. I am intrigued to know what happened on board that caused over 25% of the passengers to die. Is this ship known in Sagadahoc, Maine? Are there any stories, pictures, etc.? The handwriting looks like the ship was captained by a gentleman named Fiskas. He must have had his hands full.
Appreciate any data and related stories someone could share.
