Here are some descendants I found. Some of Ira's children ventured far and wide.

"Loring Genealogy", 1917 edition, is available in full, for free, via Google Books.

I'm not related. Don't ask. I'd welcome additions or corrections, of course.

First Generation

1. Ira Loring 1-4 was born on 8 Feb 1801 in Groton, Middlesex, Massachusetts. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He died on 1 Jul 1865 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine (prob).
The Loring Genealogy says Ira:

Attended the Bloomfield Academy and then taught school part of the time for several years; Mrs. Loring was also a school teacher, and so were six of their children. he was a farmer and a tanner; resided in several different houses successively in the village of Norridgewock. He and his wife joined the Free Will Baptist church. he played the bass viol in the choirs of both the Congregational and Free Will Baptist churches as occasion required.

She appeared in the census in 1850 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1860 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. In 1880 Betsey is still in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. Ira Franklin is hiding out under his middle name and initial, and they are both mis-indexed as "Loving".

Ira Loring and Betsey Eaton had the following children:

2 i. Ira Franklin Wheeler Loring 1,3-7 was born on 18 Dec 1832 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1870 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He died after 1900.
In 1900 Ira and his sister are sharing a house in Norridegewock, Somerset, Maine:

Martha W Loring, 53, head, Maine, Maine, Maine, postmaster
Era F Loring, 67, brother, Maine, Maine, Maine

Ira is with his parents, then with his widowed mother in all of the census entries prior to 1900. See them for the complete texts. I can't find him in 1910; I suspect he died between 1900 and 1910 but I can't find a death record, either.
+3 ii. John Loring, born on 30 Jan 1834, Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine; married Henrietta White, on 30 Sep 1862; married Helen Maria Dillingham, on 2 Apr 1867; died on 9 Dec 1903, Thompsonville, Hartford, Connecticut.

10 ix. Martha Wright Loring 1,3-5,7-9 was born on 21 Apr 1847 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1850 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Oneida Twp, Sierra, California. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Farmington, Franklin, Maine.
Loring Genealogy says Martha

"Taught school, first in Maine, then nine years in California; returned to care for her mother; has been postmistress several terms."

In 1880 Martha is in Oneida Twp, Sierra, California, mis-indexed as "Lonny". It looks like it could be "Loring" or "Lonny" in the original image. There ar enot that many women named "Martha W", born in Maine, who are school teachers. Many of the other Lorings were in Sierra County as well. Her relation to Mr. Roberts is "Boarder" in the original.

In 1900 Ira and his sister are sharing a house in Norridegewock, Somerset, Maine:

Martha W Loring, 53, head, Maine, Maine, Maine, postmaster
Era F Loring, 67, brother, Maine, Maine, Maine

In 1910 it looks like Martha is in Farmington, Franklin, Maine:

Helen G Howard, 73
Howard G Howard, 64
Lucy G Gay, 71
Martha W Larring, 62, servant, Maine, Mass, Maine, servant private family

Arguments for:
Martha's sister, Mary Anne, is also in Franklin County, just 10 pages away on p. 14A.
First name, middle initial and all three birth states match.
Martha "Larring" is single and has borne no children. As far as we know, Martha never married or had any children.
Her surname looks like "Lorring" in the images.

Arguments against:
Why would someone go from postmistress to being a hired woman?

I cannot find her in 1920, but that doesn't prove she died before 1920.

+11 x. Abbie Hale Loring, born on 26 Apr 1852, Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine; married Thomas A. van Norden, on 5 Sep 1876, Loyalton, Sierra, California; married George Calvin Willey, on 5 Apr 1882; died after 1920.

"He was a deacon in the Universalist Church, a town officer and a trial justice. He was a Prohibitionist in politics. he studied Greek when past 40 years of age, and read the Iliad, Odyssey and other literature. He was a very skillful workman; made fine violins and other nice pieces of work, such as patterns for carpet manufactory."

Since Henrietta was married in 1862 and died three years later, she isn't on any census as a Loring. Here she is in 1860 with her family in Dixfield, Oxford, Maine:

Henry Martyn Loring and Laura Sophia Chapin were married on 30 Jan 1861. Laura Sophia Chapin 21-23 was born on 7 Apr 1840 in Chicopee, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Chicopee, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Chicopee, Hampden, Massachusetts. She died on 27 Dec 1894 in Springfield, Hampden, Massachusetts.
The Loring genealogy doesn't always give states. Laura died in Springfield, which is one of the 10 most common town names in the USA. Whether is was Springfield CT, ME or MA is a question. Springfield, Hampden Massachusetts makes the most sense. Henry Martyn Loring and Laura Sophia Chapin had the following children:

15 i. Lizzie Adelia Loring 21,22,24 was born on 26 Oct 1863 in Chicopee, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Chicopee, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Chicopee, Hampden, Massachusetts. She died on 10 Mar 1895.

5. Edward Payson Loring 3,4,25-28 (Ira-1) was born on 2 Mar 1837 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He served in the military between 1861 and 1867 in The American Civil War (Union). He appeared in the census in 1870 in Fitchburg, Worcester, Massachusetts. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Fitchburg, Worcester, Massachusetts. He died before 1895 in Massachusetts. Loring genealogy says Edward

"... studied at Waterville College in 1859 and then entered Bowdoin College and was graduated with the class of 1961. He entered the Union Army as first lieutenant of Company B in the 13th Maine Volunteer Infantry; served in the campaign at the mouth of the Mississippi River, at Ship island, New Orleans and Fort St. Philip. Was one of the officers to whom was entrusted the work of organizing the 1st Louisiana Heavy Artillery (Colored) in 1863; was commander of Battery A.

Then was acting inspector-general on the staff of Gen. Thomas Sherman, and later major of the 10th Colored Heavy Artillery, commanding the regiment, with headquarters in New Orleans. Was in that capacity in the Port Hudson Expedition. Was mustered out with his regiment in 1867.

Returned home and studied law at Norridgewock, Me and Albany, NY; was admitted to the bar in Maine and in Suffolk County, Mass. Settled at Fitchburg. Was special justice of the police court; president of the common council; was representative to the general court in 1872 and 1874 and senator in 1883 and 1884.

He was on important committees and distinguished for insight, fairness and unimpeachable honesty. Governor Ames appointed him controller of county accounts in 1887, and his administration of that office was strong and effective, a terror to evildoers. He was a very capable writer and speaker, a valuable worker for the Republican party, with which he was affiliated.

From college days to the close of his life he gathered about him a host of devoted friends; his kindly spirit, his ready wit, his fidelity to his friends and his absolute integrity were always in evidence. A man without vices, clean of speech, calm and unruffled at all times, modest and affectionate.

Charles Bonsall writes:

Edward enlisted as a 1st Lieutenant into Co. B at Norridgewock, Maine, on 10/8/1861, and mustered in at Augusta, Maine, on 11/28/1861. On 8/15/1863 he was promoted into the Corps d'Afrique. Upon leaving the army he was breveted a Lt. Colonel.

He was described at enlistment as a 24 year old single student. He married Hannah McMillan Stark at Waterville, Maine, on 7/15/1868. I have found no record of any children.

He died prior to 12/4/1894 in Massachusetts, when his widow filed a pension application.

According to: http://www.bowdoin.edu/~prael/research/cwalum/alum_union.htm He was a graduate of Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine, in the class of 1861. His service included 1st Lieutenant in the 13th Maine Infantry, 7th USC H. A., 1st La. Corps d'Afrique H. A. and Captain in the 10th U.S.C. Heavy Arty. Maj. Bvt. Lt. Col.

==========

Edward Payson Loring and Hannah McMillan Stark were married on 15 Jul 1868 in Fitchburg, Worcester, Massachusetts. Hannah McMillan Stark 23,26 was born in Aug 1843 in Waterville, Kennebec, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Fitchburg, Worcester, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Fitchburg, Worcester, Massachusetts. She died on 20 Sep 1899 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts.
The Loring Genealogy calls Edward's wife "Helen McMillan, daughter of Stephan and Mehitabel Stark". It isn't clear if Hanna was a widow of a Mr. McMillan or McMillan was her middle name.

6. Mary Ann Loring 1,3,4,20,29-32 (Ira-1) was born on 4 Apr 1839 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1850 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1860 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Quartz Twp, Plumas, California. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Loyalton, Sierra, California. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Farmington, Franklin, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Farmington, Franklin, Maine.
There is no Mary Anderson who fits in Plumas County in 1880. In 1900 Elijah has been married to Hattie for 19 years. In 1910, Mary is with her daughter, Mary Louise, and Mary Louise's husband, Charles Sawyer, in Farmington, Franklin, Maine. George Edward was born in 1875. It looks like they divorced somewhere between 1875 and 1880.

I think this is Mary in 1880, in the next county; her birth state and name are accurate, even the "A" for "Ann". Her parents' birth states are accurate too. Elijah is buried in Loyalton, so there is a connection.

See son-in-law Hubert Haynes, husband of Bertha Sarah Anderson, for the 1900 census entry. See son-in-law Charles H Sawyer, husband of Mary Louise Anderson, for the 1910 and 1920 entries.

Mary Ann Loring and Elijah Morill Anderson were married on 10 Nov 1869 in Loyalton, Sierra, California. Elijah Morill Anderson 1,29,33-37 was born in May 1836 in Maine. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1870 in Quartz Twp, Plumas, California. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Plumas County, California. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Plumas Twp, Plumas, California. He died in 1904 in California (prob). He was buried in Loyalton, Sierra, California - Mountain View Cem.
In 1850 Elijah is in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine with his widowed mother:

Sarah Anderson 43
Deborah N Anderson 15
Elijah M Anderson 13

In 1860 Elijah is still in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine:

Sarah Anderson, 50, Maine
Dorah Anderson, 24, school teacher, Maine
Eligah Anderson, 22, day laborer, Maine

"Dorah" in 1860 is probably "Deborah" in 1850. Sarah is a widow in in Somerset County in 1840, and the only Anderson in Somerset County in 1830 has too many sons to be Sarah's husband.

In 1870 Elijah is in Quartz, Plumas, California:

Elijah M Anderson, 33, farmer, Maine
Mary Anderson, 31, keeping house, Maine

In 1880 Elijah is one of about 40 - 60 men who are working in a quartz mine in the 85th Enumeration District, Plumas, California. His status is married, but his wife isn't with him. I can't find her in Plumas or Sierra County, either.

In 1900 the family is in Plumas Twp, Plumas, California:

Elijah A Anderson, 64, head, May 1836, Maine, Maine, Maine, Carpenter
Hattie A Anderson, 41, wife, Oct 1858, Oh, Oh, Ill
Edith M Anderson, 17, dau, Mar 1883, Calif, Maine, Oh
Ruby S Anderson, 15, dau, Mar 1885, Calif, Maine, Oh
Dora V Anderson, 9, dau, Sept 1890, Calif, Maine, Oh

Hattie has borne 3 children, 3 still live. She and Elijah have been married for 19 years.

Enumerator Joseph Houston Fletcher wrote with such a clear hand that it was a pleassure to read, 109 years later, at 50% magnification. Mary Ann Loring and Elijah Morill Anderson had the following children:

+17 i. Mary Louise Anderson, born on 5 Sep 1870, California; married Charles Henry Sawyer, in 1896; died after 1946.
+18 ii. Bertha Sarah Anderson, born on 22 Dec 1872, California; married Hebert Haynes, on 17 Oct 1894, Maine; died between 1920 and 1930, Rhode Island (prob).
+19 iii. George Edward Anderson, born on 25 Mar 1875, Quincy, Plumas, California; married Ida Adele Ede, on 21 Feb 1904; married Lellie G (Unknown), between 1913 and 1916; married Alice Shepard, between 1921 and 1930; died on 15 Jul 1946, Sacramento, Sacramento, California.

7. Albert Loring 3,4,11,28,38-42 (Ira-1) was born on 20 Mar 1841 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He served in the military between 1861 and 1867 in The American Civil War (Union). He appeared in the census in 1870 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. He appeared in the census in 1920 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. He died before 1924.
Loring Genealogy says Albert

"... entered Waterville College in the class of 1861, but left to enter the Union army; went as a private in which his brother was a lieutenant, the 13th Maine Infantry. Was company clerk and after a while detailed for clerical duties. Was commissioned first lieutenant November 12, 1863, in the First Louisiana (afterward the 7th and 10th US) Heavy Artillery, of which his brother was major. He was commissioned captain in November, 1864, and commanded Fort Livingstone. He was commissioned brevet-major November 28, 1866; the company transferred to Baton Rouge where he remained till mustered out February 22, 1867.

Returning north he bought a farm at South Hadley and lived on it one year; in 1869 he bought the interest of one of his brothers in the furniture and upholstery store at Holyoke and made that place his home.

Winifred C Loring, 25, dau, Mass, Maine, Maine, industrial nurse

Either Carline has taken back her maiden name or the enumerator made a mistake. Winifred is the grand-daughter, Winifred Rowe, who has been living with Albert and Caroline since 1900. Caroline's status is single.

==========
"Loring Genealogy" says that Winnifred is the daughter of Caroline Ellen Loring and Walter Rowe of Holyoake.

Charles Bonsall writes:

Albert enlisted as a private into Co. B at Norridgewock, Maine, on 10/29/1861, and mustered in at Augusta, Maine, on 11/28/1861. He was promoted to Corporal on 2/15/1862. On 11/14/1863 he was promoted to a 1st Lt. Co. A, 1st Louisiana Artillery. On 11/16/1864 he was promoted to Capt., Co. C, 10th US Colored Artillery

The 1890 Veteran Census reported that he suffered from "Ague and chronic rheaumatism resulting in complete nervous prostration, Never applied for a pension."

He was described at enlistment as a 20 year old single student. By 1870 he and his brother had a cabinet making and upholstering business in Holyoke, Massachusetts.

He married Caroline Wing on 12/22/1865. They had at least seven children.

He died prior to 2/8/1924 in Massachusetts.

Albert Loring and Caroline E Wing were married on 22 Dec 1865. Caroline E Wing 11,39-43 was born in 1843 in Maine. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. Albert Loring and Caroline E Wing had the following children:

20 i. George Albert Loring 11,39-42,44 was born on 8 Aug 1867 in Massachusetts.
21 ii. Benjamin Tappan Loring 11,39,44 was born on 11 Feb 1869 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. He appeared in the census in 1870 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts.
22 iii. Grace Loring 39,44 was born on 5 Jul 1870 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts.
23 iv. Caroline Ellen Loring 39,42,44 was born on 23 Aug 1874 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts.
See father Albert Loring for Caroline's 1920 census entry.
24 v. Sarah Nye Loring 40,44 was born on 21 Jun 1880 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts.
25 vi. Ruth Winifred Loring 40,44 was born on 21 Aug 1887 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts.

8. Julia Loring 1,3,4,45-48 (Ira-1) was born on 7 Nov 1842 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1850 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1860 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Lewiston, Androscoggin, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Monmouth, Kennebec, Maine.
"Loring Genealogy", published in 1917, says Julia "resides in Haverhill".

In 1880 Julia and her daughter are in Lewiston, Androscoggin, Maine. Julia is probably widowed, although her status is "married".

(Name, Relation, Marital Status, Gender, Race, Age, Birthplace, Occupation Father's Birthplace, Mother’s Birthplace)

Julia L. Taylor, Self, M, Female, W, 40, Me, Works In Cotton Mill, Ma, Me
Annie L. Taylor, Dau, S, Female, W, 18, Me, Works In Cotton Mill, Me, Me

In 1910 a widowed Julia has moved back to Monmouth, Kennebec, Maine:

Julia L Hussey 67, head, widowed, Maine, Maine, Maine, farmer
Henry Hallowell 63, hired man

Julia has borne one child, but 0 are still living. RIP, Annie Lois.

Julia Loring and Darius Daniel Taylor were married on 22 Mar 1863. Darius Daniel Taylor 1,45 was born in 1832/33 in Maine. He appeared in the census in 1870 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He died before 1880.
In 1870 the family is in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine:

Daniel D Taylor, 37, farmer, Maine
Julia A Taylor, 27, keeping house, Maine
Anna L Taylor, 6, Maine
Mary Taylor, 75, Maine

I can't find Darious in 1880, and Julia is living with her daughter in Lewiston. I'm assuming Darious died before then. Julia Loring and Darius Daniel Taylor had the following children:

26 i. Annie Lois Taylor 45-47,49 was born on 27 Nov 1863. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Lewiston, Androscoggin, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts. She died before 1910.
Julia Loring, Annie's mother, has a sad little "1/0" for her children borne/living columns on the 1910 census. I estimated her death year from that.

Julia Loring and William B. Hussey were married in 1892/93. William B. Hussey 1,47 was born in Nov 1829 in New Hampshire. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts. He died before 1910. He was also known as Huzzey.
In 1900 the family is in Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts. Annie's husband, Harry Mills, died 21 Aug 1895, according to "Loring Genealogy":

William A Huzzey, 70, head, Nov 1829, NH, NH, NH, shoe-cutter
Julia L Huzzey, 57, wife, Nov 1842, Maine, Maine, Maine
Annie L Mills, 36, dau, Nov 1863, Maine, Maine, Maine

William and Julia have been married for 7 years. The image says "Huzzey", not "Hussey". Whether william spelled it that way is anyone's guess. I can't find him in 1880. It is "Hussey" in "Loring Genealogy".

Julia is "Hussey" in the 1910. She is a widow, too; I estimated his death from that fact.

11. Abbie Hale Loring 1,4,5,50-52 (Ira-1) was born on 26 Apr 1852 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1860 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1870 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine. She died after 1920.
Loring genealogy doesn't say what happened to Thomas van Norden, just that Abbie married him in Loyalton, then came back to Maine.

I can't find her in 1880.

See husband George Calvin Willey for the 1900 census entry and son-in-law Hadley Richardson for the 1910.

In 1920 she is in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine, mis-indexed as "Welly". Her marital status is "M", another mistake. Finally, she is living with her daughter and son-lin-law again, but they have both her and Hadley's relation as "Head", in household 28.

Hadley S Richardson, 47, head, Maine, Maine, Maine
Lura M Richardson, 36, wife, Maine, Maine, Maine
George E Richardson, 11, dau, Maine, Maine, Maine
Willis M Richardson, 7, son, Maine, Maine, Maine
Emma A Richardson, 2 11/12, dau, Maine, Maine, Maine
Abbie H Welly 67, head, Maine, Mass, Maine, farmer

She isn't with Lura and Hadley in 1930, but that doesn't mean she has died. It strongly hints that she has, though.

Abbie Hale Loring and Thomas A. van Norden were married on 5 Sep 1876 in Loyalton, Sierra, California. They were divorced before 1882 in California. Thomas A. van Norden 1,53 was born in 1833/34 in Nova Scotia.
There is a "T A Van Norden" living in Quincy, Plumas, California on the 1880 census. He is a widower, something people often said in 1880 if they were divorced or deserted. He was born 1834 in Nova Scotia. I'm betting that this is our Thomas. He has a son, "F", living with him. Abbie was probably his second wife.

Abbie Hale Loring and George Calvin Willey were married on 5 Apr 1882. George Calvin Willey 1,50 was born in Sep 1831 in Maine. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine. He died on 4 Dec 1903 in Maine (prob).
In 1900 the family is in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine:

George C Willey, 68, head, Spet 1831, Maine, NH, Maine
Abbie H Willey 48, wife, Apr 1852, Maine, Maine, Maine
Lura M Willey 17, dau, Apr 1883, Maine, Maine, Maine

George and Abbie have been married for 18 years.
Abbie Hale Loring and George Calvin Willey had the following children:

+27 i. Lura May Willey, born on 30 Apr 1883; married Hadley Richardson, in 1905/6, Maine (prob).

Third Generation

17. Mary Louise Anderson 1,30,32,54-56 (Mary Ann Loring-2, Ira-1) was born on 5 Sep 1870 in California. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Farmington, Franklin, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Farmington, Franklin, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1930 in Concord, Merrimack, New Hampshire. She died after 1946.
Mary Louise was probably born in Sierra or Plumas Counties.

Mary's sister Bertha and brother George are in Norridgewock in 1880. Mary Louise is probably there too, somewhere, but I can't find her. Their mother is still in Sierra County.

Mary lived long enough to be listed as one of her brother George's survivors in his 1946 obituary. I can't find a death record.

Mary Louise Anderson and Charles Henry Sawyer were married in 1896. Charles Henry Sawyer 1,30,32,54-56 was born in Mar 1868 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Farmington, Franklin, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1920 in Farmington, Franklin, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Concord, Merrimack, New Hampshire. He died on 14 Jun 1954 in Concord, Merrimack, New Hampshire. He was a Landscape photographer.
George Edward Anderson's obituary says his surname is Sayer, oddly enough.

In 1900 the family is in Providence City, Providence, Rhode Island, hiding out under their initials, with his birth year mis-indexed:

Chas H Sawyer, 32, head, Mar 1865, Maine, Maine, Maine, Photographer
M A Sawyer, 29, wife, Sept 1870, Calif, Maine, Maine, keeper of lodging house
H B Sawyer, 2, son, June 1897, RI, Maine, Maine

They have been married for 4 years. Mary has 8 lodgers I did not transcribe, for brevity.

In 1910 the family is in Farmington, Franklin, Maine:

Charles H Sawyer, 42, head, RI, Maine, Maine, Photographer Landscape
Mary A Sawyer, 39, wife, Calif, Maine, Maine
Harold B Sawyer, 12, son, RI, RI, Calif
Mary A Anderson, 71, mother-in-law, widowed, Maine, Mass, Maine

They have been married for 13 years. Mary Louise has borne 1 child, Mary Anderson 3.

In 1920 the family is in Farmington, Franklin, Maine:

Charles H Sawyer, 51, head, Calif, Maine, Maine, landscape photographer
Mary Sawyer, 49, wife, Maine, Maine, Maine
Mary A Anderson, 80, mother-in-law, Maine, Mass, Maine
Delina M Wilkins, 74, housekeeper

In 1930 Charles and Mary are in Concord, Merrimack, New Hampshire. Their son is just around the corner from them.

HH/Fam 87/101, Number 15 South Spring Street:
Sawyer, Harold B, head, 32, RI, Maine, Calif, photographer, studio
----, Cornelia C, wife, 37, NY, NY

Harold was 28 at first marriage, Cornelia 33.

James Pringle and wife are in HH 88, then

HH/Fam 89/103. number 55 Pleasant Street
Sawyer, Charles H, head, 62, Maine, Maine, Maine, *** Photographer, srudio
----, Mary H, wife, 67, Calif, NH, NY

Charles was 30 at first marriage, Mary 35. all in all, not the most accurate census entry anyone ever had. The fact Mary is 7 years too old and the second fact, that their marriage is off by 4 when compared to 1900 and 1910, makes me suspicious about Harold B and Cornelia.

Charles was famous enough that books of his work are still being sold. This is a bio-blurb from an advertisement for one of them:

Hand-Painted Photographs of Charles Henry Sawyer

by Carol Begley Gray, Michale Ivankovich, John Peters

About this title: The fine art of Hand-Painted photography by New England's favorite son photographer, Charels Henry Sawyer (1868-1954), is well presented in this biography. Twelve beautiful color plates, and numerous black and white images, are included in this book. Born in Norridgewock, Maine, in 1868, Charles Henry Sawyer began his art career as a portrait artist, painter and photographer in Providence, Rhode Island. In the late 1890s, he worked as a pencil artist for the New York Tribune and as a photographer and painter with Wallace Nutting, the best known painter of black and white photographs. The book chronicles the development of photography, beginning with black and white Daguerreotypes in 1839 through the introduction of color film in the mid 1930s. The painting of black and white photographs was done to correct errors in the print; to change the composition of the print; but primarily, to add color to otherwise black and white images.

==========

Carol Begley Gray wrote a long article for "The Gavel", an on-line magazine for antique dealers in New Hampshire, about the final auction of Sawyer Pictures' effects. I've excerpted the biographical bits here:

A Lifetime of Devotion Crosses the Block

On August 29, 1996, at the Chichester, NH homestead of Gladys Towle, head colorist for The Sawyer Pictures for fifty-two years, over three hundred lots of Sawyer-related items sold under the hammer of auctioneer Archie H. Steenburgh of Haverhill, NH.

The Sawyer Pictures, begun by Charles H. Sawyer in 1904 in Farmington, ME, was a successful business for over 70 years, providing hand-colored photos to stationery stores, jewelry stores and gift shops. The Sawyers eventually relocated to Concord, NH to be in close proximity to the White Mountains, a favorite backdrop for their landscape artistry.

Gladys Towle, who now resides in a nursing home, began coloring for Charles Sawyer in Concord, NH in 1919 at age 16 and became his primary colorist. She retired in 1971 and at the time of her retirement was working for his son, Harold. It has been claimed that her artistry made all the difference in the effectiveness of the finished prints.

The history of the Sawyer business is fascinating. While the first studio in Farmington was established in 1904, the business really began in 1903 when Charles Sawyer began snapping photographs of Maine landscapes. Next, using watercolor paints, he "colored" the photos, which he then carefully matted and framed.

Charles disliked the term "tinting".

Some prints were "doctored up", for example to eliminate Profile Hotel nestled among the trees on some of the Echo Lake prints, and the elimination of a telephone pole near a covered bridge in another. He never "staged" a scene, so if a print contains people, cattle, sheep, etc. that is what was happening at that time.

Charles Sawyer maintained a studio on Main Street in Farmington, ME until 1918, before moving on to Concord, NH. After the move, he bought his first car, a Maxwell runabout which enabled him to get around better and expand his photo- graphic ventures to the eastern side of the White Mountains which eventually became his primary focus.

Most of the coloring was done downstairs in the Pleasant Street Sawyer address in Concord, NH. Most of the girls worked at easels near a window. Some took work home.

In December of 1925, generous bonuses of roughly four times their weekly salary went to four employees including Gladys Towle. She received $100. While most artists were paid by piece work, from company records it appears Miss Towle was on a salary at some point, most often $23, a salary considered good at the time.

The company managed to survive the Stock Market crash and Depression, plus two World Wars, and by 1949 Charles' son Harold and his family were active in the business. Harold was the official manager of The Sawyer Pictures and the pictures took on a different look. Harold's first wife Cornelia B. Sawyer, better known as "Neal" was on the payroll along with daughter Marjorie. Harold's second wife Millicent also colored prints for about nine months but told me the pay wasn't that good since it was piecework, so she sought work elsewhere.

If payroll records could talk, it might be said that the Sawyer men must have been good to work for. Many of the business employees remained for years up until 1950-51 and the company continued to give Christmas bonuses that averaged three times a weekly salary. However, Gladys Towle usually received more than the other colorists; in fact, Gladys' salary was the highest of the sixteen employees including Harold B. Sawyer!

Charles Sawyer's health was in question by the spring of 1954; apparently he had a heart problem which prompted him to go to the doctor. He asked the doctor if he could take off the storm windows and the doctor told him it would be a risk to do so. Being a stubborn man, he did so anyway and died on June 14, 1954 at the age of 86.

In the early 60s, the Federal Government stepped in and wanted the land and the studio at 55 Pleasant Street was demolished to build a large, modern Post Office in Concord. The business moved to Eastman's Dairy, not more than a mile away. The colorists completed their work at home and the business address for the firm became son Harold's address on 46 Spring Street.

Gladys Towle retired in 1971 from The Sawyer Pictures with a pension provided by Harold. After that, the production of hand-colored Sawyer prints dwindled. In all, she had worked for the Sawyers for 52 years, but before she retired, she completed a master series of pictures for a new line of lithographed Sawyer prints. There were 17 or 18 popular prints that were selected including "Surf at Pinnacle Point"; "Back Cove, Pemaquid Maine" and "Mt. Mansfield, Stowe, VT".

When Harold died in 1980, the studio closed its doors. A month after his death, Harold Yeaton bought the business from Millicent Sawyer, Harold Sawyer's second wife. It took a fork-lift to remove Charles' safe with all the filed glass negatives and sample books to Mr. Yeaton's cellar. Some of the glass negatives can be found in the archives of the NH Historical Society. The Sawyer Pictures out-lasted all its competitors and left behind a huge volume of expertly-colored prints of comparable quality to Wallace Nutting. The next time you see a Sawyer print, take a closer look and "See America through Sawyer Pictures." Mary Louise Anderson and Charles Henry Sawyer had the following children:

28 i. Harold B. Sawyer 30,55-57 was born on 30 Jun 1897 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Farmington, Franklin, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Concord, Merrimack, New Hampshire. He died in Jul 1980 in Concord, Merrimack, New Hampshire.
Harold's first wife was Cornelia, his second Millicent. See his father, Charles Henry Sawyer, for the 1930 census entry and for a long article about Sawyer Pictures, the family business.

18. Bertha Sarah Anderson 1,20,58-61 (Mary Ann Loring-2, Ira-1) was born on 22 Dec 1872 in California. She appeared in the census in 1880 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She died between 1920 and 1930 in Rhode Island (prob).
Bertha Sarah was probably born in Plumas or Sierra Counties.

In 1880 she is in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine
(Name, Relation, Marital Status, Gender, Race, Age, Birthplace, Occupation Father's Birthplace, Mother's Birthplace)

Sumner Robinson, Self, M, Male, W, 46, Me, Teamster, Me, Me
Hannah E. Robinson, Wife, M, Female, W, 40, Me, Keeping House, Me, Me
Bertha Anderson, Other, S, Female, W, 7, Ca, At School, Me, Me

Her brother, George, is also in Norridgewock. Bertha is on page 425, George on page 422. Mother Mary Ann is in California, in Sierra County; father Elijah is in Plumas County. It looks like the parents are breaking up and the kids got sent back home to Norridgewock.

I'm guessing Bertha died 1920 - 1930 because she is with Herbert in 1920, and in 1930 he has a different wife. I can't find a death record for her.

Bertha Sarah Anderson and Hebert Haynes were married on 17 Oct 1894 in Maine. Hebert Haynes 1,20,59-62 was born between 1866 and 1870 in Maine. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. He appeared in the census in 1920 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. He was also known as Herbert. He was also known as Hubert.
Herbert has these ages for these birth years for these census entries:

1900: Jan 1833
1910: 43 (1867)
1920: 51 (1869)
1930: 64 (1866)

In 1900 the family is in Providence City, Providence, Rhode Island:

Hubert Haynes, 67, head, Jan 1833, Maine, Maine, Maine, Druggist
Bertha Haynes, 27, wife, Dec 1872, Calif, Maine, Maine
Mary Esther Haynes, 4, Dau, Sept 1895, RI, Maine, Calif
Rebecca L Haynes, 1, dau, Dec 1898, RI, Maine, Calif
Mary A Anderson, 61, mother-in-law, divorced, Apr 1839, Maine, Mass, Maine
Henry M Loring, 65, Boarder, Widowed, May 1835, Maine, Mass, Maine

Hubert and Bertha have been married for 6 years. Bertha has borne 2 children, 2 are still alive. Mary A has borne 3 and 3 still live. Henry there is an uncle by marriage to Hubert, not a boarder. Henry is brother to Mary Ann Loring.

In 1910 the family is in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island:

Herbert Haynes, 43, head, Maine, Maine, Maine, Pharmacist in drug store
Bertha A Haynes, 37, Calif, Maine, Maine
Esthen M Haynes, 14, RI, Calif, Maine
Avis E Haynes, 9, RI, Calif, Maine
Cassandra P Gladding, 50, boarder

Both Herbert and Bertha have a "1" next to their "M" in marital status, indicating it is the first for each. Bertha has 0/0 for children borne and children living.

In 1920 the family is in Providence City, Providence, Rhode Island:

Herbert Haynes, head, 51, Maine, Maine, Maine, proprietor, drug store
Bertha Haynes, wife, 47, Calif, Maine, Maine
Avis Haynes, dau, 18, RI, Maine, Calif
David Haynes, son, 7, RI, Maine, Calif
Abbey Haynes, mother, 78, Maine, NH, Maine

They are at 262 Cypress Street.

In 1930 the family is in Providence City, Providence, Rhode Island. It looks like Bertha has died and Herbert has remarried:

Herbert Haynes, 64, head, Maine, Maine, Maine, clerk in drug store
Ellen A Haynes, 63, wife, Maine, Maine, Maine
David Haynes, 17, son, RI, Maine, Maine
Ruth M Haynes, 86, mother, Maine, Maine, Maine

They are at 262 Cypress Street.

The address, Herbert and David prove this is our Herbert. Ellen is too old, has the wrong name and the wrong birth state to be Bertha under a middle name. Bertha Sarah Anderson and Hebert Haynes had the following children:

+29 i. Mary Esther Haynes, born on 7 Sep 1895, Providence, Providence, Rhode Island; married George J. Abbott, on 20 Sep 1916, Rhode Island.
30 ii. Rebecca L Haynes 20,63 was born in Dec 1898 in Rhode Island. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She died on 24 Oct 1903 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island.
+31 iii. Avis Edna Haynes, born on 17 Mar 1901, Providence, Providence, Rhode Island; married Frederick Emil Schoeneweiss, in 1927/28, Providence, Providence, Rhode Island (prob); died on 7 Sep 1979, Providence, Providence, Rhode Island (prob).
32 iv. David P Haynes 60,62,64,65 was born on 8 Mar 1912 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. He appeared in the census in 1920 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. He died in Sep 1970.

19. George Edward Anderson 1,54,66-72 (Mary Ann Loring-2, Ira-1) was born on 25 Mar 1875 in Quincy, Plumas, California. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Elko, Elko, Nevada. He appeared in the census in 1920 in Hollister, San Benito, California. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Fresno, Fresno, California. He died on 15 Jul 1946 in Sacramento, Sacramento, California.
George Edward's California Death index has a problem. George was the son of Elijah Morrill ANDERSON. His CDI says his father's surname was "Morrell", which is wrong. Miss Keen, in "FEB", gives his name as Edward, when it is George Edward. All in all, he led me a merry chase.

Note, since both "George" and "Anderson" are quite common,

He uses "George E" consistently.
His BPs are Calif, Maine, Maine in all 4 census entries
His birth year is within a year of 1875 on all 4 too.

George Edward's obituary lists sisters Mary, Ruby and Edith as his survivors. Ruby and Edith are half-sisters.

==========

In 1910 the family is in Elko, Elko, Nevada:

George E Anderson, 35, head, Calif, Maine, Maine, superintendent of schools, county
Ida Anderson, 31, Calif, England, Wisc
Orvis E Anderson, 4, son, Nev, Calif, Calif
Robert Anderson, 2, son, Nev, Calif, Calif
Kathryn Anderson, 10/12, dau, Nev, Calif, Calif

George and Ida have been married for 5 years.

==========

Working backwards, if all three of his birthplaces are accurate, this is probably George in 1880:

Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine

(Name, Relation, Marital Status, Gender, Race, Age, Birthplace, Occupation Father's Birthplace, Mother's Birthplace)

Daniel P. Field, Self, M, Male, W, 31, Me, Farmer, Me, Me
Hattie E. Field, Wife, M, Female, W, 31, Me, Keeping House, Me, Me
George E. Anderson, Boarder, S, Male, W, 6, Ca, Me, Me

There are not a lot of people who move from California to Maine. His name and birthplace match. I'd bet he was really a relative, not a boarder.

==========

I could not find him in 1900.

==========

In 1920 the family is in Hollister, San Benito, California:

George E Anderson, 44, head, Calif, Maine, Maine, School teacher grammar school
Lellie G Anderson, 45, Missouri, Ky, Tenn
Orvis E Anderson, 14, Nev, Calif, Missouri
Robert G Anderson, 12, Nev, Calif, Missouri
Kathryn A Anderson, 10, Nev, Calif, Missouri
Goldine E Anderson, 3 5/12, Calif, Calif, Missouri

The first three children have their step-mother's birthplace, not their mother's.

==========

This looks like "Lellie" from 1920 with her daughter, Goldine, especially since she is divorced and George is in Fresno with another wife in 1930.

1930, San Jose, Santa Clara, California

Golden Anderson, 56, Divorced, Missouri, Ky, Va, dressmaker
Goldie E Anderson, 13, Calif, Calif, Missouri

Note that Golden's last name matches, her age matches, her first two birthplaces match, daughter Golden's birth year and all three birth places match, and San Jose isn't very far from Hollister. Finally, the "G" in "Lellie G" from 1920 could be "Golden". Still, more research needed.

==========

In 1930 George is in Fresno, Fresno, California:

George E Anderson, 55, head, Calif, Maine, Maine, teacher public school
Alice S Anderson, 53, wife, Minn, Oh, NY, teacher public school
Violet Shepherd, 51, sister-in-law, single, Oh, NY

George was 28 at first marriage, Alice 35. George's first marriage was to Ida Ede.

==========

George had a funeral notice and an obituary, both published in the
Sacramento Union on 17 July 1946

His obituary was on p. 2:

Funeral Pends For Former Instructor

Services are pending at the Andrews and Greilich Mortuary for George Edward Anderson, 71, a former teacher in Sacramento high School, who died Monday in a local hospital.

Anderson, a native of Quincy, Plumas County, taught physics in the Sacramento High School four years and in the Fresno High School 20 years. Formerly he served as deputy state superintendent of education in Nevada. He returned to this city two years ago to reside at 3878 12th Avenue. He was a charter member of the Three Pillars Lodge of Masons of Sacramento.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathryn; son, Orvis E. Anderson and his sisters, Mrs. Mary Sayer, Mrs. Axley and Mrs. Edith McKenney.

His funeral notice was on p. 8:

ANDERSON - Entered into rest in this city, July 15, 1946, George Edward Anderson, beloved father of Kathryn and Orvis E. Anderson, brother of Mrs. Mary Sayer, Mrs. Ruby Axley and Mrs. Edith McKenney. A native of Quincy, Calif., aged 71 years. Friends are welcome at the Mission Chapel of Andrews and Greilich and are invited to attend the funeral tomorrow (Thursday) at 10:30 a.m. under the auspices of the Three Pillars Lodge, No. 613, F. and A. M. Interment, Masonic Lawn.

George Edward Anderson and Ida Adele Ede were married on 21 Feb 1904. Ida Adele Ede 67,73-77 (daughter of Abraham Ede and Mary Jane Easton) was born in Aug 1879 in Plumas County, California (prob). She appeared in the census in 1880 in Beckwourth Twp, Plumas, California. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Beckwourth Twp, Plumas, California. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Elko, Elko, Nevada. She died in 1913. She was buried in Chilicoot, Plumas, California - Chilicoot Cem.
Father Abraham bought a biography in the Biographical record of the Sierras (1906). In a list of his children is:
Ida (Mrs. Edward E. Anderson)

The family is in Plumas County for the 1860, 1870 and 1880 census, so I'm assuming she was born there. Mary Jane probably gave birth at the farm house, but it would have been possible for her to go to a midwife in Reno.
George Edward Anderson and Ida Adele Ede had the following children:

+33 i. Orvis E. Anderson, born on 10 Oct 1905, Elko, Elko, Nevada; married Annabelle Doris Elliott, between 1931 and 1939; died on 28 Jul 1966, Sacramento County, California.
34 ii. Robert G Anderson 67,69,78 was born in 1907/8 in Nevada. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Elko, Elko, Nevada. He appeared in the census in 1920 in Hollister, San Benito, California. He died before 1946.
Robert's father, George Edward Anderson, dies in 1946. George's obituary mentions a son Orvis and daughter Kathryn as survivors. It doesn't mention Robert. I'm going to assume he died before 1946. He could have been estranged.
35 iii. Kathryn Anderson 54,67,69 was born in Jun 1909 in Elko, Elko, Nevada. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Elko, Elko, Nevada. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Hollister, San Benito, California.
Kathryn was 10/12ths on April 26, 1910 when they took the census. That calculates to a birthday in June 1909, but it could be off by one or two months.

George Edward Anderson and Lellie G (Unknown) were married between 1913 and 1916. Lellie G (Unknown)69 was born in 1875/76 in Missouri. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Hollister, San Benito, California.
"Lellie" is the best guess at a scrawl. Her given name could be "Lillie" or even "Clarice". I think I found her in 1930 as "Golden", so the "G" in 1920 might be "Goldie". See the note on husband George Edward Anderson. George Edward Anderson and Lellie G (Unknown) had the following children:

36 i. Goldine E Anderson 69 was born in Aug 1916 in California. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Hollister, San Benito, California.
Godine was 3 and 5/12ths on the census taken 15 Jan 1920. That works out to August 1916, but it is not precise.

George Edward Anderson and Alice Shepard were married between 1921 and 1930. Alice Shepard 70,71,79 was born on 28 Apr 1877 in Minnesota. She appeared in the census in 1930 in Fresno, Fresno, California. She died on 3 Apr 1944 in Fresno, Fresno, California. She was also known as Shepherd.
Fresno Bee Republican, Fresno, California; 4 April 1944

Mrs. Alice S. Anderson

Mrs. Alice Shepard Anderson, 66, of 3010 Grant Avenue, died late last night in a local hospital following a long Illness. She was born in Minnesota and had lived in the Fresno District for 37 years.

A graduate of the San Jose State Normal School, Mrs. Anderson taught in the Fresno City Schools for 30 years, retiring in 1937 while teaching in the Washington Junior High school.

Her husband, George E. Anderson, is also a retired teacher, having taught in the Fresno High School for 18 years.

Mrs. Anderson was active in the Congregational Church and the Fresno chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Other surviving relatives include a sister, Violet Shepard of Fresno and two cousins, Superior Judge Arthur C. Shepard of Fresno and Chester Shepard of Selma.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday at 1:30 P.M. in the Stephens Memorial Chapel, to be followed by interment in the Belmont Memorial Park.

==========

Note that the surname is "Shepard" here, but "Shepherd" on the 1930 census entry. (See husband George Anderson for the text of the 1930 entry.)

27. Lura May Willey 50-52,80 (Abbie Hale Loring-2, Ira-1) was born on 30 Apr 1883. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine. She appeared in the census in 1930 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine.

Lura May Willey and Hadley Richardson were married in 1905/6 in Maine (prob). Hadley Richardson 51,52,80 was born in 1872/73 in Maine. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1920 in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine. He was also known as Hadely.
In 1910 the family is in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine. Abbie Loring, Lura's mother, is with them:

Hadely S Richardson, 37, head, Maine, Maine, Maine, farmer
Lura M Richardson, 26, wife, Maine, Maine, Maine
Abbie Willey, 58, M-in-L, Maine, Maine, Maine
Georgie E, 2, daughter

Hadley and Lura have been married for 4 years.

In 1920 the family is in Smithfield, Somerset, Maine:

Hadley S Richardson, 47, head, Maine, Maine, Maine
Lura M Richardson, 36, wife, Maine, Maine, Maine
George E Richardson, 11, dau, Maine, Maine, Maine
Willis M Richardson, 7, son, Maine, Maine, Maine
Emma A Richardson, 2 11/12, dau, Maine, Maine, Maine
Abbie H Welly 67, head, Maine, Mass, Maine, farmer

In 1930 the family has moved to Norridgewock, Somerset, Maine:

Hadley Richardson, 58, head, Maine, Maine, Maine
Lura Richardson, 47, wife, Maine, Maine, Maine
Wellie Richardson, 18, son, Maine, Maine, Maine
Jeneve Richardson, 13, dau, Maine, Maine, Maine
Clarence Richardson, 7, son, Maine, Maine, Maine

29. Mary Esther Haynes 20,59,81-83 (Bertha Sarah Anderson-3, Mary Ann Loring-2, Ira-1) was born on 7 Sep 1895 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts.

Mary Esther Haynes and George J. Abbott were married on 20 Sep 1916 in Rhode Island. George J. Abbott 82,83 was born in 1892/93 in Massachusetts. He appeared in the census in 1920 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts.
In 1920 the family is in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts:

31. Avis Edna Haynes 59,60,84-87 (Bertha Sarah Anderson-3, Mary Ann Loring-2, Ira-1) was born on 17 Mar 1901 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She appeared in the census in 1930 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. She died on 7 Sep 1979 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island (prob). She was buried in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island - Swan Point Cem.
Avis's LR on the SSDI is Providence, and she is buried there. She may have died elsewhere.

Avis Edna Haynes and Frederick Emil Schoeneweiss were married in 1927/28 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island (prob). Frederick Emil Schoeneweiss 87-89 was born on 19 Aug 1897 in Rhode Island. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. He died on 7 Jun 1982 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. He was buried in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island - Swan Point Cem.
In 1930 the family is in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island, with Avis' birthplaces messed up:

Frederick Schoenewess, 32, RI, Germany, NY, Lawyer corporate
Avis Schoenewess, 29, NY, Germany, NY

Normally I'd pass this off as coincidence, but Fred is buried in the same cemetery as Avis, and her maiden name is Haynes.

He was 30 at first marriage, she 27.

33. Orvis E. Anderson 54,67,69,90-93 (George Edward-3, Mary Ann Loring-2, Ira-1) was born on 10 Oct 1905 in Elko, Elko, Nevada. He appeared in the census in 1910 in Elko, Elko, Nevada. He appeared in the census in 1920 in Hollister, San Benito, California. He appeared in the census in 1930 in Sacramento, Sacramento, California. He died on 28 Jul 1966 in Sacramento County, California.
In 1930 Orvis is in Sacramento, Sacramento, California:

Bertha McClain, 37, head, widowed, Ore, Calif, Calif, none
Josie Russell, 60, mother, widowed, Calif, Iowa, Ohio, none
Orvis E Anderson, 24, cousin, Nev, USA, USA, draftsman in office

Bertha was 21 at first marriage, Josie 17.

[I haven't a clue as to where Bertha fits in. TP]

Orvis had a death notice and an obituary. Death notice from the Sacramento Bee, 29 July 1966, p. D 4:

ANDERSON - In Sacramento, July 28, 1966, Orvis E. Anderson, beloved husband of Annabelle D. Anderson, loving father of Carolee A., James L. and Marshall E. Anderson, brother of Kathryn Anderson of Berkeley; a native of Elko, Nev., aged 60 years.

Friends are welcome at the New Mission Chapell of Andrews and Greilich, 3939 Fruitridge Road and are invited to attend the funeral Monday at 11 a.m.

Obituary, from the Sacramento Bee, 30 July 1966, p. B7:

Orvis E. Anderson

Services will be held Monday for Orvis E. Anderson, a long-time Sacramento resident who died Thursday in a local hospital at the age of 60.

Anderson, a resident of Sacramento for 45 years, was born in Elko, Nev. He graduated from Sacramento High School and worked as an engineer with the Califonria Division or Architecture.

He was a member of Union Lodge, F and AM, No. 58 and Scottish Rite Bodies. He lived at 1231 Teneighth Way, Sacramento.

Surviving are his widow, Annabelle D. Anderson, and children Carolee, James and Marshall Anderson.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. at the New Mission Chapell of Andrews and Greilich, 3939 Fruitridge Road.

Orvis E. Anderson and Annabelle Doris Elliott were married between 1931 and 1939. Annabelle Doris Elliott 93-95 was born on 25 Oct 1908 in Sacramento, Sacramento, California. She died on 30 Jul 1995 in Sacramento, Sacramento, California.
I estimated their marriage date from the fact that Orvis was single in 1930, and their first child was born in 1940. Orvis E. Anderson and Annabelle Doris Elliott had 3 children, whose details are private.
