Moscow, Somerset, ME in 1820

I'm wondering if anyone knows what might attract a family to Moscow in the 1820s. The Nicholas Dodge family appears in Moscow in the 1820 census. His grown sons, Elisha, Daniel, and Nicholas are also there with their own households.

However, Nicholas Dodge (Sr.) is buried in 1827 in their old location (25 Mile Pond Plantation/Burnham, ME). Sons Elisha and Daniel are found in the old location in the 1830 census. I cannot find Nicholas (Jr.) in 1830, but he is buried near his father in 1855.

I'm wondering what might have been happening in Moscow that would attract the family at that time. Any theories? (I'm curious about the general history of the area too, if you know that.)

Thank you for any thoughts or facts to share.
