Hello,

I have access to census pages through my local library. I just checked and there were 2 Joseph ROY's in Maine in 1880. One was 12, and part of the large family of Julien ROY:

ROY, JOSEPH (1880 U.S. Census)
MAINE , AROOSTOOK, HAMLIN PLANTATION
Age: 12, Race: WHITE, Born: ME
Series: T9 Roll: 476 Page: 95

This is the other:

ROY, JOSEPH (1880 U.S. Census)
MAINE , ANDROSCOGGIN, 5-WD; LEWISTON
Age: 39, Race: WHITE, Born: CANA
Series: T9 Roll: 475 Page: 297

Up to 1900 there were 25 people with the name in Maine. This is one. He's living as a servant with the MARSTON family.

ROY, JOSEPH (1900 U.S. Census)
MAINE , SOMERSET, SKOWHEGAN
Age: 33, Male, Race: WHITE, Born: ME
Series: T623 Roll: 600 Page: 315

In these years the Joseph ROY's were mostly in Androscoggin Co. and Kennebec Co.

Up to 1920 there were a few more with the name, but only 2 in Somerset Co. The first one below had a wife, Josephine, the 2nd one below said he was single.

ROY, JOSEPH (1920 U.S. Census)
