SHAPLEIGH VETERAN - JOHN DARLING HUNTRESS
I am seeking information on John Huntress who Shapleigh, Maine on October 4, 1838, son of Otis Robinson and Mary D. (Pillsbury) Huntress. He served in the Second Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry (a 3-year regiment), enlisting 25 May, 1861 (residence given as Mendon, MA) and was discharged for disability on 26 June, 1862. He died at sixty-three years of age of “consumption” and was buried in the Old Dubbo Cemetery in Dubbo, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA on January 10, 1902. I need any available information on his birth, family, life and descendants to recompile a memorial for him on www.acwv.info; and to acquire for him a gravestone, which he has never had. All assistance will be greatly appreciated. jamesmgray@bigpond.com
