Hello,

Even though families are mentioned as being in Maine in 1790, just a reminder that Maine did not become a State until 1820.

I just checked the MALOON name for any state and see only 5 families, all in New England. This is one:

MALOON, JAMES (1790 U.S. Census)
MASSACHUSETTS , ESSEX, METHUEN
Series: M637 Roll: 4 Page: 393

And there are 3 in NH, including this one (one in VT):

MALOON, MARK (1790 U.S. Census)
NEW HAMPSHIRE , ROCKINGHAM, GREENLAND
Series: M637 Roll: 5 Page: 172

About the same in 1800. In 1810 there are 13 families or people, all in NH. In 1820 there are 5 in NH and then 5 in ME, including Stephen MALOON. Others are: Isaac, Jacob, Samuel, and Solomon.

In 1870, your Stephen is listed in the home of a son, Solomon MALOON. I wonder if he was named after Stephen's father:

Name: Stephen Maloon
Estimated Birth Year: 1790

Age in 1870: 80y
Color (white, black, mulatto, chinese, Indian): White

Sarah Maloon F 48y
Gilbert G Maloon M 19y
Asa W Maloon M 18y
Octavia Maloon F 15y

Stephen Maloon M 80y
