William's daughter, Blanche, was my great-grandmother. William was born in Prague in 1872. He came to the U.S. when he was 16. He died September 21, 1941.
His obituary:
William Norman, 78, Rawlings, died yesterday at his home after a protracted illness.
A native of Praha, Bohemia, he came to this country when 16. For twenty-three years he was employed as a trackman by the Baltimore and Ohio railroad, becoming a farmer on his retirement.
Surviving are a son, Richard S. Norman, Rawlings; five daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Blanche Logue, Cumberland, and Mrs. Lillie M. Gorden, Mrs. Edna E. Dawson, Mrs. Lucrian Norris and Mrs. Joseph Gallther, all of Rawlins; eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His wife died several years ago.
I wish I knew more about him, even where he's buried.
His wife's family, the Dawsons, had been in the U.S. since about the 1600 and 1700s.
