I'm not sure if you are still searching for information on Basil Brown, but in doing research for the history of our home in Crownsville, Maryland, I have come across a Basil Brown (son of John Brown II and Elizabeth) recorded in 1798 Federal Assessments as owning 3 houses and two tracts of land one for 416 acres and one for 460 acres. As well as another Basil Brown (Feb. 19, 1838 - Jul. 1, 1897)This Basil Brown is the son of Henry H. Brown (1/2/1794 - 8/9/1874) and Mary Ann Gross Brown (1/20/1800 - 11/16/1869). Henry and Mary's offspring: Thomas, Margaret A. & P. Basil Brown (as listed on Henry's head stone- Find A Grave Memorial# 14276474)
