The Federation of Genealogical Societies (includes Baltimore County Genealogical Society), along with ancestry, and Fold3, and donations of individuals are making available digitized copies of the War of 1812 pension and land bounty records to the public for viewing. Membership in Fold3 was required for making a copy of the file. Yet this is wonderful news to me. No longer must we go to NARA to search records. The entire record can be read from the comfort of our home. Then when we find that this is indeed a record that we want to copy we can decide how we want to arrange that.
To start the search, go to-> http://www.fold3.com/s.php
Then choose War of 1812 -> you might have to choose "show more" if you get a lot of categories for the name you searched.
There are about 7% of the records digitized at this time.
