Noticed your reply on RootsWeb re: Elizabeth (Lizzie) Elliott Harten from Calvert County Maryland.

I've been working on the Harten family line and was wondering if you might be able to provide some additional information on this family. Any leads would be appreciated.

This I do know about Elizabeth Elliott Harten:

Birth: Aug. 3, 1860
Somerset County, Maryland, USA
Death: May 24, 1940
Rock Hall (Kent County)
Kent County, Maryland, USA

Wife of George Ridley Harten.

Mother of 11 children:

1. Arthur Cummings Harten (1878-1899) died unmarried as a young man in Solomon's Island, Calvert Co. MD.
2. Margaret (Marjorie)L Harten Smith Jaynes (1880-1957) married to 1st) Norton Cooper Smith and 2nd) William Joseph Jaynes; died in Hurlock, Dorchester Co, MD. She had 2 sons to first husband: Benjamin Eugene Smith and David Harten Smith.
3. Jasper W Harten (1882-1939) died unmarried in Baltimore, MD.
4. Samuel J Harten (1884-) last recorded in 1900 Census, trying to locate additional info regarding Samuel.
5. Mary Ann Harten (1886-1917) died unmarried in Baltimore, MD; had one son Benjamin E Harten.
6. Benjamin E Harten (1889-1968) married to Catherine Sweeney and died in Nottingham, Baltimore Co, MD. He had 4 children: James L Harten, Raymond K Harten, Doris Harten Sparrow and Edward J Harten.
7. Andrew Lee Harten (1892-1952) divorced, wife’s name unknown, died in Baltimore, MD. Trying to locate name of wife and if he had children.
8. Elizabeth Phoebe Harten (1894-1966) married 1st) James Thomas Greenwell and 2nd) Charles Jerman. She died in Washington, DC and had 12 children to her 1st husband:
Gertrude Helen Greenwell Norris, Catherine Marie Greenwell Abell, Elizabeth Alberta Greenwell Gatton, George Sterling Greenwell,Mary Elizabeth Greenwell Hayes Kelly, Thomas James Greenwell, George Daniel Greenwell, Joseph Peter Greenwell, John Aloysius Greenwell, Louis Edward Greenwell, Mary Ann Greenwell Updyke and Joseph Benedict Greenwell.
9. Herman Harten (1897-1970) married to Helen Marie Sweeney and died in Crisfield, Somerset Co.(? not sure), MD. Had one daughter, Helen Marie Harten Denton.
10. Edith L Harten Crouch Downey (1901-1980) married to 1st) Charles Wilmer Crouch and 2nd) Maurice James Downey, died in Chester, Queen Anne’s Co., MD. Had 4 children: Grace Elizabeth Crouch Zebley Cassell, Nellie Marie Crouch Cassell Tinley, Mary Louise Crouch Taylor and Charles Harten Crouch
11. Winfield E Harten (1904-1976) died unmarried in St Mary’s, St Mary’s Co., MD.

Trying to locate additional info regarding children: Samuel J Harten and Andrew L Harten (wife and if any children). I believe Samuel may have died early in his youth but not sure; have not found a burial at Solomons Island for him.

Might you be able to provide additional info or any leads on these children of George and Elizabeth Elliott Harten or any of the rest of family?
