I think there is a good chance that your Jamima/Jemima is part of a Scott line from which I descend, as Jemima is a name used for several generations. This line descends from a Wm. Scott, b. ca. 1675, d. ca. 1748 Pr. Geo. Co, MD who m. ca. 1700 Mary Lucas. Amongst their 4 known children is a Thomas Scott, b. 1702 Pr. Geo. Co, MD who m. Elizabeth Prather; they had Samuel Scott, b. ca. 1728 (the right time frame for your Jamima) who m. Mary Jones. There were probably other children whom we have not identified. Then Samuel had Samuel, Jr; Rachel; Thomas; Richard; Jemima; and Nathaniel. Samuel and his family left Pr. Geo. Co. ca, 1765 for Rowan Co., NC where he d. in Wilkes Co, NC shortly before 1790. From there this family spread out all over the South -- KY, IN, AL,TN, AR, TX, etc. If you think this might be your line, get back to me, as I have more info to share on these Scotts.
