Are there any relatives of Ora E. Garrett out there? If so, I've traced this non-direct relative of mine back almost 1000 years and thought I'd share a little of what I've found.
Ora Edward Garrett was born 6/12/1885 in KY, the son of Henry Harrison Garrett and Martha Yonts. Ora married Lillie Jean Brown 4/23/1907. He died in either 1979 or 1980 in KY. Tracing back over the centuries one comes to Edmund de Holand who was born 1/6/1382 or 1383. He was the 4th Earl of Kent. He had a relationship with Constance Plantagenet. They never married but apparently lived as husband and wife. She was a Princess of England. Her father was Edmund Pantagenet, Prince of England (b 1/5/1341, d 8/1/1402). Edmund's wife was Isabella, Princess of Castile & Leon (b 1355 d 12/23/1392). His father was Edward III Plantagenet, King of England (b 11/13/1312 d 6/21/1377) and his mother was Philippa d'Hinault, Countess of Hinault (b 1314 d 8/15/1369). Going further back in the lineage of Edward, one finds Edward II, Edward I, Henry III, Henry II (who was involved in the murder of Thomas a Becket), King John (who signed the Magna Carta), Henry I, and Guillaume I (known as William the Conqueror). Other relatives of Ora E. Garrett are King Pedro I of Castile & Leon (known as "the Cruel"), Eleanor of Aquataine, Philippe III of France, Maclcom III of Scotland, and Duncan I of Scotland (Malcom killed Macbeth who had killed Duncan - see Shakespeare's "Macbeth"). In the year 1290 Maude La Zouche was born. She too is an ascendent of Ora E. Garrett. You might ask what is the relevance of this? Two of Maude's decendents made a name for themselves; Barbara Pierce Bush and George W. Bush, the President of the United States. I am quite confident in what I have found and thought some out there would be interested. Want more details? e-mail me.
