Re: Book "History of Queen Anne's County"
Wow! I feel like I hit the jackpot! I think James Jr did marry Margaret Valentine. They migrated South, eventually winding up in South Carolina, where he died. They had a son, Valentine Horsley, and the name crops up a couple of other times. As I recall, Valentine served in the Revolutionary War. James III may have, also. I have seen some references to Horsleys in Maryland and in Virginia from the early to mid-1600s. I'm not at my office right now so I can't lay my hands on it, but there is a paper written about a Maryland "attorney general" named Baden or Bladen who, in 1714 prosecuted someone named Macnemara for an assault on a man named Dobson. Macnemara's successful defense was that he was protecting his servant, James Horsley, from an assault by Dobson. Baden was in the Annapolis area. If you'd like, I can make you a visitor to my tree (Horsley Family Tree).
